Hi I’m Belinda, or B will do just fine!

Like my nickname I tend to be straight to the point. Perhaps that’s a byproduct of growing up regionally on the Darling Downs with only brothers, and a large, extended family! (My Dad is one of 15 children and my Mum one of 8!).

You soon learn to have a voice when surrounded by so many people.

For nearly two decades I worked in senior leadership roles for some of Australia’s major corporates, including News Limited, AVJennings, Macquarie Bank and Mirvac.

Upon reflection throughout my career I was always brought into organisations or teams to ‘sort out the people issues’ and drive performance on multiple projects that needed cross-functional collaboration. I loved tackling project, team and organisational challenges as a leader in these companies, and now I love doing it in my own company HR Junction that I founded in early 2014.

I love business, and the one consistent element across all industries is the importance of people to a company’s success. My mission is to see people, leaders and businesses flourish via better communication, improved leadership and real engagement of people.

For many leaders, managing people is one of the greatest frustrations they face in their career.  How often do we hear “if only I didn’t have to manage people my job would be easy!”? The reality though is that good leadership of people is the essence of engagement, performance, community and ultimately profitability. That’s where I come in.

I am a people person. I get what makes us tick and how to tap into that to achieve positive change. From a leadership perspective, it’s about becoming the best person you can be – professionally and personally.

After nearly 20 years in the corporate sector working on more than 60 brands I decided I was ready for a new path. If I was to drive the positive change I wanted to see in the business world, I knew I would have to run my own company to give me the flexibility, creativity and ownership that I truly desired to make a difference.

I now run my own business HR Junction (link to www.hrjunction.com.au) and work as an executive coach, leadership expert and strategic consultant to companies wanting a high performing, inclusive culture.

Whether at home in Brisbane or on the other side of the world, each person I meet teaches me something valuable and now my aim is to give something back. I gain inspiration from everyday people. If you ask me who my role models are, I have to confess they are most likely people I meet throughout my everyday life.

With advances in technology, our workplaces are now faster-paced, constantly changing and globally competitive. The workplace of the future is changing and I want to be a part of the movement that changes the way we work smarter, for the greater good of society as a whole.

I am passionate. I have many passions – travel, photography, family and friends. One passion that is very close to my heart is empowering men and women from all walks of life to lead a life of self-reliance and dignity. This is a particularly rewarding part of my work. It is also the reason I am so passionate about working with The Hunger Project Australia. To find out more about The Hunger Project, read some of my stories here (link to blog page on HRJ site) or see The Hunger Project Australia at www.thp.org.au

I had the great privilege to lead the last Business Chicks and Hunger Project Leadership Immersion Program in 2014 to Uganda, and look forward to a life-long association with this incredible organisation.

Belinda
